Milan, 28 May2024 - Re-opening tomorrow, Wednesday 29 May 2024, after five years, the Corsia dei Servi Parking in Largo Corsia dei Servi in the heart of Milan's historic centre: 300 rotating parking spaces at the service of citizens and tourists, in a multi-storey car park that has been totally renovated and refurbished according to the latest technological and safety concepts.
The car park, located in Largo corsia dei Servi 15, between Corso Vittorio Emanuele II and Corso Europa, a stone's throw from the Duomo, the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II and near the University of Milan, was built in 1973, and was closed in 2019.
Corsia dei Servi Parking will be managed by APCOA Italia S.p.A, - a company of the APCOA Group and European leader in parking and mobility services - on behalf of the fund manager Catella Real Estate AG. - specialised in the field of real estate investments - which is the owner. APCOA oversaw and participated in the renovation work , which involved both the redistribution of spaces in the seven parking levels, with new stall sizes, lights and flows, and the adoption of access payment, remote reservation, surveillance and lighting technologies.
The new infrastructure was inaugurated today with a symbolic ribbon-cutting ceremony in the presence of Franco Lucente, Regional Councillor for Transport and Sustainable Mobility, the CEO of APCOA Italia, Arturo Benigna, and Isabel Jager, Senior Investment Manager Catella Real Estate AG.
"We are proud to have contributed in a decisive way to the rebirth of this iconic work in the centre of Milan, which had been subject to progressive deterioration for many years, after several attempts to sell it made by the Municipality of Milan with negative results, also due to the technical-financial complexity of the recovery," says Arturo Benigna, CEO of APCOA Italia. "We therefore thank the prestigious European Fund Manager Catella Real Estate AG., who purchased the structure from the Municipality of Milan, not only for the trust it has placed in us by entrusting us with the management, but also for having delegated the most significant part of the recovery activities and technological choices to APCOA. We think we have repaid this trust by giving new life to this work, proposing even more innovative and impressive solutions than our already high standards, to the benefit of our users' experience. This intervention is also a confirmation of our attachment to the city of Milan and the Lombardy Region, in whose infrastructural framework, of the highest quality, a significant share of our most prestigious managements interact harmoniously."
Franco Lucente, Regional Councillor for Transport and Sustainable Mobility, added: "An initiative that goes in the direction desired by the Lombardy Region, guaranteeing adequate solutions for sustainable mobility that is technologically advanced and able to meet the needs of citizens. If we want to make our cities truly accessible places for everyone, it is necessary to set up modern and safe infrastructures, under the banner of intermodality between transport systems, which is the only viable way for a functional connection between places and travel modes".
Wolfgang Oelke, Head of Portfolio Management, Catella Real Estate AG, said: "We are delighted to further strengthen our strategic partnership with APCOA through the development of the Corsia dei Servi Parking. The technical repositioning of the car park presented a particular challenge, which is why the clear coordination of the measures with the future needs of the operator APCOA was essential for the success of the project. We would therefore like to thank both APCOA and our technical service providers for their fruitful cooperation, which was crucial to the success of the construction work. The additional geographical diversification of the parking portfolio in a major metropolis like Milan is also a valuable addition to the fund, which further optimises the risk/return profile. We believe that the fund will not only benefit from the asset's good positioning in Milan's vibrant city centre, but is also convinced to make a positive contribution to the further development of the city of Milan together with our operating partner APCOA."
The renovated Corsia dei Servi Parking will be at the service of the citizens and will contribute to make Milan more advanced in terms of services and in line with the standards of liveability of other big European cities, with particular attention to safety.
The car park is open 24 hours a day, and is equipped with the most modern control technologies for user safety thanks to the approximately 50 cameras installed throughout the structure, in addition to the roll-up doors that will be installed in the next few days and activated during the night. Entry and exit flows, as well as access, are managed by the latest generation SKIDATA systems. Different types of parking spaces are available to citizens: 11 spaces for citycars, 6 spaces for disabled users and 4 spaces for electric recharging with 2 AC charging stations.
In addition to payment by card and cash through the two automatic cash machines, access will be possible with Telepass and Unipolmove, which will allow transit without collecting a ticket. It will also be possible to reserve a parking space through APCOA's pre-booking system.
The rotating parking fee is EUR 3 per hour, up to a maximum of EUR 15 per day. Special rates are also available for those who wish to purchase a season ticket and reserve a space for longer periods.
